About The Brand: Nissin Foods

Instant noodles were first created by Momofuku Ando of Nissin Foods in Japan in 1958. They were initially launched under the brand name Chikin Ramen. After months of trial and error experimentation to perfect his flash-frying method, Ando marketed the first package of precooked instant noodles on August 25, 1958. The original chicken flavor was called Chikin Ramen. Initially, it was considered a luxury item with a price of ¥35, which was around six times the price of traditional udon and soba noodles at the time.

In 1971, Nissin introduced Cup Noodles, which are dried noodle blocks in a polystyrene cup. In Japan, they are referred to as Cup Ramen. Instant noodles are marketed worldwide under many brand names. Some Japanese instant noodle manufacturers use "Ramen" as a descriptor for instant noodle flavors.
